Paul Falworth
Paul blows glass with
the Bay Area Glass Institute
(BAGI) in San Jose, California, metal-smiths at The Crucible, Oakland, California and fabricates his final pieces at his Jungle studios with plasma cutters, copper MIG welding, acetylene torches, wet chop saw, polishing turntables and slumping kilns.
Paul's sculpture background
commenced with painted ceramic sculptures which quickly migrated to hot glass
sculptures in 1997. Paul's experience at BAGI has been
specifically with 'free-form' hot glass dichroic sculptures, multiple
gathers and large amounts of color.
Paul Falworth's Primal Instincts mural hanging at the safari-theme Tahoe home illustrates specific shades and patinas incorporated into his sculptural works via hot blown-glass and patina' ed wrought-copper pieces.
Paul's
adventure backpacking, focusing on developing nations rich in culture,
has been ideal for the shapes, patinas and feelings expressed in
his glass and metal sculptures. Paul's travels have covered over 70 countries form the jungles of Papua New Guinea to the Amazonian rainforests of the Ecuadorian Oriente to the roof-of-the-world in Lhasa, Tibet.
